47

Logline:
When a driven, forty something professional is faced with infertility and childlessness, she must decide what is most important in her life.

STORY

“47” is a narrative short film about the anguish facing women with infertility issues, and the judgments often placed on childless women of a certain age. It grapples with the complex social dilemma of what it means to be a woman and working professional over forty in America, struggling to balance career, motherhood and more. We want women to feel less isolated and alone in regards to infertility and childlessness in today’s society.

How does this define us?

Let’s talk about it!

PRODUCER’S STATEMENT

“This is a story near and dear to my heart.”

“My writing partner and I had our own individual and painful experiences with what it means to be childless women of a certain age – and in talking with other friends and colleagues – we discovered that more conversations about these issues need to be told and heard. Being an ‘older’, childless woman, whether by choice or from infertility, can ignite feelings of pain and isolation.

If you’re reading this, you probably know a woman who has struggled with infertility. It affects a staggering 17.5% of people worldwide, and miscarriages can be 20% of women’s first pregnancies. Maybe your mother, your sister, your daughter or your friend have been impacted by this. Let’s remove the stigmas.

Let’s talk about it. It’s time.

The issue is actually global. This film is meant to spark more conversations on the subject, while creating more room for empathy and healing.”
